Futures Trading
Futures Trading is an interesting beast. Most people know the stock market... I take that back. Most people can referrence the stock market with common terms & pretend to know what they are talking about. If you ever hear someone say "PLAY the stock market," know that they are someone who knows nothing about trading. Serious investors rarely ever "play" their money to grow it. If they did, then Las Vegas would be the business capital of the United States. Here are terms you may be familiar with: -Buy -Sell -High -Low -Bear -Bull -Long -Short Ok... how does one make money when trading? BUY LOW and SELL HIGH right? Well, yes... But often SELLING HIGH, is a faster way to make money, and lots of it. See the term SELL when trading often means taking a position in anticipating the market is going to go down. This is also known as shorting the market. Or looking for a Bearish trend. The opposite is also true. Buying a position anticipates a bullish trend (or an upward movement). This is also known as taking a long position. The buying of contract (anticipating an upward trend) is idea of buying low and selling high. It is the most common way the public sees trading... both in Futures and Stocks. The one that is most overlooked (except by savvy traders who make lots and lots of money), or often is unknown is Selling contracts or looking for that bearish (downward) trend. Which is often the quickest way to take a big profit. In most cases markets rise slowly over time, and drop fast! This why you hear of people losing it all over night. But the opposite is again true, if short that market right before the drop, you stand to make a lot of money. Look for advantages like these when trading.
